Carolyn Long Slams Jaime Herrera Beutler for Misleading Ad Covering Up Her Record of Voting to End Protections for Those With Pre-Existing Conditions and Against Oversight of Recovery Funds
‘So far, the only thing she’s delivered is disappointment’
VANCOUVER, WA —Carolyn Long, candidate for Congress in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, slammed Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler for her recent misleading ad claiming she’s saved jobs and health insurance coverage for Southwest Washington’s working families.
“Jaime Herrera Beutler claims that she’s delivering for Southwest Washington, but so far, the only thing she’s delivered is disappointment,” said Long.
“My opponent bragged publicly that she’s voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act more than 80 times, including to end protections for those with pre-existing conditions. This could have left millions without health coverage during the pandemic. Now, since the pandemic started, 105,000 Washingtonians have lost health care coverage. Recently, she voted to protect a lawsuit that would destroy our health care system and could cause millions to lose coverage. This is incredibly dangerous and out of step with the needs of families in Southwest Washington.
“If she was working for Main Street and not Wall Street, she would have voted for expanded oversight of pandemic recovery funding. We saw giant corporations with money already in the bank receive millions of dollars in recovery funding while more than a hundred thousand small businesses have gone under.
“It’s time for a fresh start for Southwest Washingtonians. And I am ready to deliver,” said Long.
Carolyn Long is running for Congress in Southwest Washington (WA-03) for the 2020 election. She previously was the Democratic nominee for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District in 2018. She resides in Vancouver with her family and teaches at WSU-Vancouver. Long has served Southwest Washington for more than 25 years, as a WSU college professor and community leader.
