Vancouver, WA — Today, the Alliance for Retired Americans announced their endorsement of Carolyn Long as the candidate who will represent all Southwest Washingtonians and fight to protect Social Security and Medicare. The ARA is a nationwide grassroots organization with over 4.3 million members whose mission is to ensure health and retirement security as well as economic justice and full civil rights for all citizens. The Alliance’s members vote at record numbers, and they use the power of their membership and their Congressional Voting Record to educate and mobilize seniors to elect leaders committed to improving the lives of retirees and older Americans. The Alliance has endorsed Carolyn Long in her bid to unseat Rep. Herrera Beutler, who holds a lifetime score of 14/100 on legislation vital to American retirees.
“Carolyn Long is a leader who will hear out, speak with, and listen to the issues and concerns of everyone in our communities — because she will be a Representative for all of us,” said the Alliance for Retired Americans. “Carolyn is committed to fighting for Social Security and Medicare — which she knows are our essential earned benefits that must be protected in Washington, DC.”
“I am honored to be endorsed by the Alliance for Retired Americans in this run for Congress. I will be a Representative who puts Southwest Washington first, and always fights to protect and expand access to affordable health care and lower the cost of prescription drugs,” said Carolyn Long. “I’m committed to protecting and preserving Social Security and Medicare, because we must ensure our seniors have access to their earned benefits.”
