The Cook Political Report Race Rating Shifted in WA-03 Towards Carolyn Long
In a testament to the strength of this campaign, both the Cook Political Report and Daily Kos shifted their WA-03 race ratings away from Rep. Herrera Beutler into the “Lean Republican” category
VANCOUVER, WA— Today, The Cook Political Report shifted its race rating for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District from “Likely Republican” to “Lean Republican.” This rating change demonstrates the strength of Carolyn’s campaign and a testament to the fact that Rep. Herrera Beutler is in the most competitive reelection fight of her political career.
“The campaign to represent Southwest Washington in Congress is more competitive than ever because the stakes have never been higher,” said Abby Olmstead, Campaign Manager for Carolyn Long. “In 2020, we face the choice between reelecting a career politician who has spent a decade in DC working on cutting access to affordable health care and giving her corporate donors a tax giveaway— and Carolyn Long. Carolyn will be a hard-working, present, accountable, and committed Representative that always puts the people of Southwest Washington first. National Republicans are coming in to try and buy this election at the last minute because they’re terrified they’re going to lose.”
Earlier this week, the Daily Kos also shifted its rating toward Carolyn Long. These shifts come on the heels of a poll released by the Long campaign showing the two candidates neck-and-neck. The poll conducted by GQR showed that Long is gaining ground, trailing behind just two points.
