After Congress Gives Up on a COVID Relief Deal, Long Calls out Herrera Beutler for Playing Partisan Politics
VANCOUVER, WA — Today Carolyn Long, candidate for Congress in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, responded to the president’s declaration that negotiations on a new COVID-19 relief package are over until after the election in November:
“Our small businesses are hurting. Our families are struggling. Our schools can’t open because they haven’t gotten the funding they need to do so safely. And $600 a week in expanded unemployment benefits for those out of work through no fault of their own has long since expired. Yet politicians in D.C. are so out of touch that they can’t even come together, and put politics aside to pass the desperately needed relief funding for workers, families and businesses.
“Jaime Herrera Buetler needs to quit falling in line behind her party bosses and playing partisan political games and instead get real relief to Southwest Washington now. This failure is outrageous and unacceptable and it will cause a devastating toll on our communities.”
